Henry Jacob Rawl Jr.
May 16, 1917 - August 22, 2012
Brunswick - Henry Jacob Rawl Jr., 95, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. He was born in Prosperity, South Carolina son of Henry Jacob Rawl and Pat Leggett Rawl. He attended school in Lexington, South Carolina and graduated in 1938 from Clemson University with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He retired after 42 years of service from Union Camp Corporation. Mr. Rawl was a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an avid gardener. His wife, Jessie Olliff, daughter, Patsy Smith and grandson, Bobby Smith preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jake and Marie Rawl of Ridgeland, SC; W. Chester Rawl of Brunswick, GA; Thomas E. and Carolyn Rawl of Montgomery, AL; grandsons, Jay Rawl and Bill Rawl and his wife, Lissy all of Hilton Head Island, SC; son-in-law, Robert Smith of Savannah; great grandchild, Woodley Rawl of Hilton Head Island, SC; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial: The Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
